The winner of this game stays seated and the TD calls the next lower rank to play. The loser of the game must report his/her loss to the league right after the game. This goes on until there is only 1 person left and is declared the winner of the tourney. I suggest that you run 2 tourneys at the same time to prevent your players from getting bored while they are waiting for their games. The TD is expected to check the rank of each one of the players on the league's standing page while taking the registrations on paper.

Make tables 2/2/2 - This is a regular canasta tourney with 1 special rule. You must have either a canasta in 7s and an open meld in 10s, or an open meld in 7s and a canasta in 10s to go out. You cannot canasta both 7s and 10s, you may only canasta one or the other. Open meld does not mean INITIAL meld, it simply means you must have that set melded on your board WITHOUT it being a canasta. You may meld at any time, but remember unless you have the 7-10 split, you cannot go out.

38 SPECIAL

Make tables 2/2/1 - This is a combination tourney in which you will play both crazy 3s and crazy 8s. You may not go out until all 4 red 3s are on the board. You must have a canasta for every red 3 you get. If you have no red 3s, you still need 1 canasta to go out. 8s are like black 3s, you may never take the pile if an 8 is on top. You may not meld 8s unless you are going out at which time you would meld or canasta your 8s, play black 3s (if you have any) and then go out. Going out before all red 3s are on the board, melding 8s before going out or picking up the pile when an 8 is on top will all result in a DQ from the tourney.
